Allan Benton has over 40 years of investment banking and management experience within the chemicals and related industries. During his investment banking career, Mr. Benton has been involved in merger and acquisition transactions valued in excess of $6 billion and equity and debt placements valued in excess of $5 billion, of which approximately $1 billion has been privately-placed.

Prior to joining Scott-Macon in 1999 to establish a Chemical and Related Industries Group, Mr. Benton was Managing Director and Head of the New York office of Wm. Sword & Co. Before Wm. Sword, Mr. Benton was Managing Director and Group Head of the Chemical and Environmental Services Group of Prudential Securities for ten years, prior to which he was Vice President in the Energy and Natural Resources Group of Salomon Brothers for eleven years where he advised chemical companies on mergers and acquisitions and financing. Mr. Benton’s investment banking began at Blyth Eastman Dillon & Co. where he focused on the chemical industry.

Mr. Benton began his career in project management, development and engineering with Dow Corning Corporation. Following Dow Corning, he became a Vice President at Chem Systems, Inc., a consulting company providing economic and process evaluations. Later, Mr. Benton joined Occidental Petroleum Corporation as Treasurer of the Hooker Chemical subsidiary.

Mr. Benton is a graduate of Williams College (B.A.) and the University of Minnesota (M.S. – Chemical Engineering).
