Sequa, a portfolio company of The Carlyle Group, sold Warwick to Close Brothers Group.
At the time of acquisition, Warwick consisted of two separate businesses, a specialty chemical manufacturer and a broad network of niche chemical distributors based across Europe and Asia.
Close Brothers Private Equity backed the management buyout of chemicals business Warwick International from U.S. parent Sequa Corporation, owned by The Carlyle Group.
Sequa Corporation is a diversified industrial company that produces a broad range of aerospace products, printing and other industrial machinery, metal coatings, and specialty chemicals. Under its previous names General Printing Ink Corp. and Sun Chemical Corp., Sequa was the world’s leading producer of printing inks and organic pigments before its graphic arts unit was sold in 1986 and aerospace became the company’s chief field of operations.
